"Portable Apps" is like an operating system for your USB drive or any type of portable storage device. It provides a user-friendly interface similar to windows which makes it easy to find, organise & manage large amounts of data on portable drives.
You can install add-ons to the core program (called "Portable Apps Menu"), such as anti-virus scanner, zip utility, backup, portable office suite, calendar, portable Firefox & Thunderbird, and even games......

There are lots of great tools available today that can really make life easier for webmasters & web designers. If you are building, running or managing your own website, then you too should try some of them as they will really help speed up your work & you will wonder how you ever managed without them.
This week I'm highlighting 3 such tools, all FREE, which I personally have found to be indispensible (......when you begin postponing FireFox upgrades until after your favourite tool has been upgraded to be compatible, then you know it's true love........).

I had been tearing out my hair for 2 weeks or more trying to think of some way to make our site's homepage look exactly how I wanted, and at the same time trying to make the ongoing management of the site easier. I also needed to get these issues sorted out quickly and before we began marketing the site, too.
Of particular concern to me was our front page, as that's one of, if not the most crucial element in a websites success (because if people don't like the look of the landing page, which is usually the site's homepage, they will often just leave). Quality content is of course the most critical element overall ,but you also need to make the site visually appealing....
